What is the difference between Broccoli seed and Broccoli sprouts?Updated 8 days ago

At Broc Shot, we are committed to providing the highest quality natural sulforaphane that our customers can trust. Sprouts are often considered the go-to source for sulforaphane. Unfortunately sprouts are fussy.

Broccoli has 5 stages: seed, sprout, microgreen, mature head, and flower.

Sprouts require more cultivation and processing and can have more degradation of sulforaphane during milling and drying. Our broccoli seeds contain up to 30x more glucoraphanin than 3–5 day old sprouts, and we preserve the critical enzyme myrosinase to ensure consistent and reliable sulforaphane activation in every serving. While our broccoli seed powder contains both glucoraphanin and myrosinase, we also add an additional source of myrosinase from horseradish root powder to ensure full-spectrum coverage and minimize any potential degradation of the enzyme. This means predictable, high-impact results—without the risks of spoilage or contamination that can come with fresh sprouts. An additional byproduct of using the seed is a milder flavor compared with sprouts.

And unlike sprouts (which are strongly influenced by growing conditions) starting from carefully selected broccoli seeds reduces variability. Because sprouts come from individual plants, there’s natural variation in how much sulforaphane they can produce. Things like growing conditions, soil, temperature, and even when they’re harvested all change the final amount.
